Filming

So far we have filmed our introduction for each character, Zoe outside the front of college smoking and on the phone. We then filmed Megan in the bathroom doing her make up to show how she is very concerned with her appearance. We filmed Hayley reading a magazine to show how she knows a lot of gossip and nothing gets past her.
We then filmed these three characters walking down the corridor and bumping into the new girl Jane and causing her to drop her books. They take her cigarettes but then invite her to come with them because they feel sorry for her.

Where we are filming

We decided that we wanted to film around college as it is based around college students.

Plot
the plot of our film is set in an english college, about teenage students and their lives.
its about social groups and how some students find it difficult to fit in.
The plot of the film is about a new girl, that has just moved to the college, and she knows no one and has no friend. She is quite a quiet girl and is shy and nervous.
There are three popular girls at the college, megan, zoe, hailey ,they are the girls that are loved by everyone.
The new girl jane is walking down the corridor, and the three popular girls walk past her and barge into her, janes bag falls on the floor and a bag of weed falls out. One of the popular girls picks it up and says whats this, and janes is quite embarrassed about it, the popular girl then asks if she wants to go get lean. So thats how they all start talking, and get to know the new girl.
The popular girls show jane round the school and teach her about all the different groups that are in college, eg.emos, chavs, geeks. There is a voice over talking about the different groups.
The popular girls get to like jane, and want to give her a makeover.

Props and Costumes

Props
We have chosen to film around college so we can use our surroundings and work with what we have. It also means we do not need to bring in many of our own props.
However we are going to film in parts around the college that make it clear it is a college, for example film down the corridors and try and get things such a lockers in shot. Also the canteen where everyone sits.

Costume
Plain Jane - A plain coloured cardigan, a plain top and a pair of jeans. She will wear a normal pair of clean plimsolls, hair tied back and wear hardly any makeup and jewellery.
Hailey - Baggy top, grey leggings or ripped jeans, big and baggy jewellery and army boots. Subtle makeup and really windswept hair. - Topshop queen !
Megan / Meg - Black leggings, Floral top, flower in the hair, Big eyelashes, lots of gold bracelets and flat pumps.
Zoe - Big knitwear, Leggings or tight jeans, anything flat chested looking, big hair, vintage items, random jewellery and subtle makeup.
Groups - Play themselves ; )

Ideas

The genre of our short film is going to be a teen drama, like 'Mean Girls'

We looked at the conventions of a teen drama and came up with a conventional storyline typical to the genre.
- A new girl comes to the college who is a 'plain jane' kind of character and gets in with the 'popular' girls, who show her around the college and different groups of people in it.
- A convention also typical to the genre is the different groups within the college.

However we are basing it in England, so it is easier to film so we do not have to put on accents or change the college to look like an American high school which is typically where teen drama films are set.
We have decided to make our clip more based on the British T.V series 'Skins'
We think that Long Road is quiet cliched and would be easy to film and it would make it humorous.
